Committees of the student parliament

To support its work, the student parliament has set up various committees, each committee consisting of a minimum of three and a maximum of seven members. Each student has the right to stand for election to the committees; the committee members are elected by the members of the student parliament. The meetings of the committees are – like the meetings of the student parliament – public. Exceptions are the social committee and selection committee during the application phase.

A distinction is made between permanent and temporary committees. Standing committees exist throughout the entire legislative period; non-permanent committees are only established under certain conditions. Non-permanent committees are regularly the election committee, which organises the elections, among other things. Sometimes there is also the election review committee.

Budget Committee

The tasks of the budget committee include the control of the financial management of the AStA and the student body, the statement on the budget and on the accounting result of the student body, as well as on all financially effective applications to the student parliament. The budget committee is also a kind of permanent financial audit of the AStA. It consists of seven members.

Student members of the administrative board of the Studierendenwerk Aachen

The administrative board is the decision-making body of the Studierendenwerk Aachen. In this board strategic decisions for the further development of the Studierendenwerk are made. This includes, for example, the determination of the amount of the social contribution that each student has to pay to the Studierendenwerk each semester, or the annual economic plan of the Studierendenwerk. Furthermore, the administrative board decides on the appointment of the management and larger investment measures, such as the construction of new buildings or extensive renovations of student residences.

The administrative board meets at least twice a year. Of the nine members of the council, four come from the student bodies in Aachen. Every two years, the student parliament of the RWTH elects three representatives, the FH Aachen provides the fourth member. They regularly report orally to the students’ parliament on the developments of the previous board meeting.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact the student representatives in the Administrative Board (also those of the FH Aachen) by e-mail at vr@stud.rwth-aachen.de.

Electoral Audit Committee

If an objection is raised to the result of the elections to the student parliament, the student parliament had to set up an election examination board to prepare its decision on this matter. This committee makes the necessary preparations for a possible review of the election results and finally makes a recommendation to the student parliament on how to proceed. This committee will only be established as needed.
